GPD gives feedback on New Zealand’s approach to cybercrime convention negotiations
GPD has responded to a public consultation by the New Zealand government, which asked for feedback on its draft principles and objectives for negotiating a new UN convention on cybercrime.
In our submission, we emphasise the importance of the effective protection of human rights as a principle underpinning New Zealand’s approach, and recommend greater specificity with regards to terminology included in the principles and objectives. We also provide procedural recommendations to support an inclusive drafting process.
The consultation is now closed. For regular updates on the progress of the cybercrime convention, subscribe to our monthly Digest.
