GPD and other organisations submit joint input to OHCHR on the right to privacy in the digital age
GPD, alongside five other civil society organisations— Derechos Digitales, Transparência Brasil, Paradigm Initiative Nigeria (PIN), the Nigeria Network of NGOs (NNNGO) and Fundación Karisma—has responded to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights’ call for input to inform the development of an upcoming thematic report on the right to privacy in the digital age. We welcome the opportunity to provide input as there is a pressing need to further examine trends and challenges with regard to the promotion and protection of the right to privacy in the digital age, as well as related human rights principles, safeguards and best practice.
In our response, we share insights on a number of the issues set out in the consultation as they relate to artificial intelligence (AI). We draw on our expertise and ongoing engagement on these issues, including through collaboration with civil society organisations who engage with national governments and international forums to advance human rights-respecting approaches to AI. We also provide a set of recommendations for states and companies.
