Olaf Kolkman
Olaf Kolkman is Principal – Internet Technology, Policy, and Advocacy at the Internet Society.
For over 2 decades, Olaf has been actively engaged in the intersection of Internet technology, Internet policy and society.
Olaf contributed to various global technical Internet initiatives such as the deployment of a global measurement network and the development and global rollout of DNSSEC. He worked at RIPE NCC and directed NLnet Labs, a not-for-profit group that produces Open Source and Open Standards for the Internet. Under his responsibility, NLnet Labs made a significant contribution to global Internet stability through research and developed DNS software that is globally deployed. He is active in the IETF, the premier standard organization for the Internet, where he has held various positions, among which chair of the Internet Architecture Board.
Olaf is a commissioner on the Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace, board member of the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise, and member of the advisory council of Bits of Freedom.
Olaf lives in the Netherlands, tweets as @kolkman, and finds pleasure in movies, music, cooking, and creativity.
